Dark and Stormy Doings

As I think I've said before, Halloween is not my favorite time of year. I love October, with its colors and its chill, dark evenings, and I love fall. But I hate to be scared, and I can't read horror or see horror films, because they STAY WITH ME FOREVER. Which doesn't mean I don't love a cool, atmospheric Gothic tale now and again, and it's always fun to see what lurks in other authors' twisted minds.

So yesterday, I participated in as BARN's (Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network) fun Dark and Stormy event, where I, along with 5 other authors (Kevin O'Brien, Ramon Isao, Bruce Barcott, Paul Hanson and Elizabeth George) read short pieces that started with the prompt "It was a dark and stormy night." There were costumes, food, wine (included mulled! wine), and some very spooky decorations.

Here are a couple of pictures from the event (thank you, Rayne Lacko and Anne Clermont and Lynn Brunnell!), and, as a special treat, I've included a link to the short story I read, so you can see what I've been up to lately (and yes, yes, I am working hard on a novel--hopefully I'll be able to give you details on that soon).
